Buying things on the secondary market revealed to me that there were a lot of projects going on where people were just doing the mint, and if their item wasn't rare, they would list it and move on. That's like minting Google stock for $20, and if 48 hours later your Google stock wasn't worth $200, you should dump it on the bonfire and go buy some new stock in, say, Quibi instead.
Sitting on the market would be all these 8-15ADA priced tokens from the failed "Google" mint, and the Quibi mint would be 44 ADA a piece in three days. They'd buy 3 Quibi's for 132 ADA, and if they waited a few days and the Quibi wasn't worth $1320, they'd toss it on the bonfire; others would beg them to HODL the Quibi, and some would.
Those that HODL the Quibi for 6 months instead of flipping it for 22 each after launch would have nothing because the Quibi project ultimately failed, those that held on to the failed Google stock at $20 per would find their stock worth $600 after the same period. When people realized their Google stock they flipped was turning out better, they could buy back in at $100 per if they could find someone selling any at $100. Mostly they'd just complain. It was all hype and speculation.
Or was it? There has to be a better way. I asked the young man; he was familiar with the dynamic I was talking about. He showed me the Baby Aliens and Clumsy Ghosts he was considering, and I showed him the lions and Vudu dolls that I was considering; I asked about his Virus collection. He said, "I hope you didn't buy too many of those." I squirmed a bit. It was, in fact, all I had bought, and my spending ADA was gone; I said, "Why?" "I'm actually trying to sell some of mine and not getting a lot of traction right now. Looks like most pieces are below mint and on the floor."
Using my analogy, I thought, "They could be Googles...." I showed him some high-value SVs going for 50 ADA. He didn't comment. "Surely," I said, "they are at least worth the cost of the parent mint, and we will need them for the next stage of the project." He didn't comment again. I showed him a really cheap SV that would have cost 2000K only three days ago, sitting at 30 ADA. "I'm getting this one; it's a steal!"
"If you want to," he said, "but you should check out Chibidangos or maybe some Danoverse, it's the environment that will matter next, and they are both looking at the metaverse utility,"
Chibi-dangos? Meta verse utility? I scratched my head and went back to the discords. Then I read in the Virus discord that they would be heading for metaverse utility. Cool, cool. So just have to hang in there. I looked at Chibidango briefly. It was a play-to-earn game. I wasn't interested in a gaming commitment at my age. I already had a gaming habit with Minecraft and D&D. No, I really needed a project I could mint and flip for more playing capital. A ticket I could scratch off that was a shiny beacon of value right at the start. The gossip was getting louder, and it was all about LIONS, TIGERS, and BEARS. Oh my.
